Wine and stuff from my holiday visit to WGN and The Steve Cochran Show

Thanks to everyone who tuned in yesterday! As always, its so much fun to drink and chat with Steve, Leslie, and the whole crew. So – to the best of my recollection, here are the wines I mentioned or recommended on the show.

Wine we were drinking:

Robert Pecota Kara’s Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

The Pinot Noir that was sort of like Ledson’s:

I recommended anything from the Russian River Valley in Sonoma and/or David Bruce Winery.

However, upon further investigation I’ve learned that Ledson makes three different Pinot Noirs and I’m not sure which one the caller had.  Probably the best idea is to have some shipped directly from the winery, if you liked it that much or join their wine club.

Cheap wines for holiday parties:

Marietta Old Vine Red Lot #40

Domaine de Pouy Vine de Pays de Gascogne (Ugni Blanc) 2005

Decent Pinot Noir for $10:

Gallo of Sonoma Reserve Pinot Noir Sonoma County 2004 (or whatever vintage is current)

Cono Sur Rapel Valley Pinot Noir 2005 (Chile)

And also check out my earlier post : Bubbly Brunch Bar for some fun holiday sparkling cocktail recipes and recommendations for cheap party bubbles.
