Not to be a nagbox, but I feel there’s another cautionary measure folks should be following during their last minute holiday shopping and party prepping.
!! DONT LEAVE YOUR WINE IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES!!
I know this sounds like a “duh” kind of reminder, but I’ve had numerous woeful customers and friends leave a case of bubbly in their car trunk overnight or store wine for New Years in the garage, only to discover popped corks, exploded bottles, and semi frozen winesicles that put a big damper on their holiday cheer. While its not crazy cold here in Chicago right now, temps are supposed to drop over the next week, so protect your vino!
Likewise, if you happen to be sending wine or ordering wine last minute, take a look at the weather forecast for your recipient and its originating city. I would suggest erring on the side of caution and shipping everything overnight to a business address this time of year. Shipping warehouses are not exactly temp controlled and cases sitting on a snowy porch are just asking for trouble.
Here’s wishing you and your wine safe travels!
