About The Winediva

Christine Blumer is the founder of her own wine consulting company called Winediva Enterprises. She provides wine classes, private tastings, restaurant training, and wine writing for consumers, corporations, and professionals in the wine trade.

She most recently held the position of Director of Education and Events for Sam’s Wine & Spirits, the largest wine store in the country. For eight years, Chris trained their floor staff, taught classes to the public, organized grand in-store tasting events, and linked the world’s best wine producers with Chicago restaurants for legendary wine dinners. Ms. Blumer also served as the store’s Director of California Wine for over three years and has traveled extensively in the West Coast wine regions.

She has a background in Chicago restaurants and the service industry as well as Theatre and Art Education, which explains her resilient personality and comfort with public speaking. Christine is a frequent contributor to Wine and Spirits, gapersblock.com and culinary trade magazines.

Her e-newsletter, Diva Dish, entertains and informs over 1000 wine and food loving subscribers in the greater Chicago area.

The Winediva reaches an even larger audience through her regular guest appearances on The Steve Cochran show on WGN radio. Chris has been featured on ABC Sunday Morning News, Fox News, and Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, metromix.com and Red Eye.

She continues to teach classes for Uncork-It!, Calphalon Culinary Center, Northshore Cookery and other facilities around the Chicago area. Stay tuned for a new project at BeverageExperts.com!

    Visit http://www.SavorDallas.com for more information.

Is this you???Will you be in Dallas in March??

  3. Dennis –
No. Ms. Ansberger and I are different entities. In fact, we recently settled a lawsuit over the name “Winediva”. I totally understand how consumers and fans might be confused as we have the same first name “Christine” and both teach classes involving wine. So, to clarify – I am Christine Blumer, president of Winediva Enterprises based in Chicago. Ms. Ansbacher is the author of Secrets of the Wine Diva and based in New York. It’s part of our agreement that we make a good faith effort to eliminate confusion between our two businesses, so hopefully I’ve done that.

I WISH I was going to be in Dallas in March! Chicago is really cold in March and I could totally do with some sun. If you happen to go to any of the above events, send me a note and tell me what you thought. Always happy to hear about other great wine speakers.

    Cheers to you!

    Hi Christine
Just wondered whether you are interested in receiving news about South African wine brands? Not all are available in the US but I’m guessing you have a global audience?
    Kind regards
    Erica Meles

  5. Every wine diva needs a stylish wine tote!
Please check out these new stylish wine totes from annasuzanna, some donning SWAROVSKI crystals.

  6. Hi Wine Diva,
I was wondering if you have ever tried wine from Vermont? We have multiple micro-wineries that are producing wonderful wine! Log onto our site and check it out. Our Ice Wines (White and Red) are absolutely perfect for dessert!
    Wine-O from Vermont

  7. Cool! I’ll definitely check them out. I’ve never seen wine from Vermont, but I always like to read about emerging wine regions throughout our country.

  8. Christine,

I would love to get your thoughts on our gluhwein syrup mix at http://www.gluhwein.net. It’s a new product in the states and is selling well so far.

  9. Nice to know that a Blumer is doing this work in Chicago! I live in a wine area (Valcalepio and Franciacorta, Lombardy, Italy) and I collaborate to create events putting together wine and jazz.
    My congratulations, Christine.
    Enrico Blumer

PS: let me know if you are planning to come to Italy.

    Hi Christine,
I caught you on the Steve C show a few weeks ago. I’m rooting for you. I saw you a few years ago at the Attic Playhouse in Highwood. I worked with your mom in law, Sharon, at B & V.

My Marvin passed away last year (pancreatic cancer) so I know how devastating this disease is.

My best to you and yours.

    Devra Eisen

P.S. I’m new to the computer (home type), only a year. Also, can’t find Sharon’s phone number ask her to call or email me.

  11. I have a cool wine tour company that is the best in the Willamette valley. With the wine country being only 30 miles from downtown Portland Oregon, this has been a huge hit with the local Hotels downtown. If you ever want to tour the real Pinot Noir country, check me out!

  12. Hey Christine,

Alice Ryan here from Gita Group – I represent a number of wines from around the world. I was wondering if you had a personal email at which you could be reached. I know your are the wine correspondent at BevX.com and I’d love to talk to you about some of the producers I represent, if you’re interested.

Let me know and enjoy your Friday!

  13. Hi,

I thought you might be interested in adding a link to zoomvino on your blog.

zoomvino is a new internet communication platform connecting winemakers with wine buyers worldwide, listing more than 50 countries, 250 regions and 1700 geographical dénominations (appellations).

The platform already lists most commercially active wineries selling in bottle, and their number never stop growing. Zoomvino is also a unique guide to the world‘s wines, zoomvino Buzz, for those buying wines directly from wineries or planning a wine holiday.

  14. July 21 – Riedel Wine Tasting

    Hi WInediva,

I would like to invite you to join Riedel Crystal for one of the brand’s famous comparative wine tastings on Thursday, July 21, 2011. The tasting will explore how the shape, size and clarity of glassware truly affect how we enjoy wines – including their aromas, taste, balance, and finish. Riedel expert Sean Petrie will show how Riedel stemware has helped improve the overall wine-drinking experience for millions of imbibers from novice to connoisseur since Riedel first conceived of “wine friendly glassware” in 1961. He will also divulge expert tips that have been honed by the Riedel family’s 250-year legacy, including advice on decanting, caring for your wine-friendly glassware and more.

Join Riedel Glass on July 21 at 6:30 PM at the Miele Gallery 554 Green Bay Road in Kenilworth. We have a few press seats available and would love for you to come experience the Vinum series, which will then be followed by light Hors D’oeuvres and a reception.

Please RSVP by calling (646) 654-3441 or emailing mfisher@nikecomm.com.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Michael Fisher
